One of the quiet joys of an alcohol-free perfume oil is how far a little goes — but only if you apply it well. Unlike a spray, which you can mist generously, an oil is concentrated and personal. Get the technique right and a couple of dabs will stay with you for hours. Here is how to make the most of every drop.
Why perfume oils last
Alcohol-based sprays smell bright the instant they hit the skin, but the alcohol evaporates quickly and carries the top notes off with it. Oils behave differently: they sit on the skin and release their scent slowly as they warm, which is why a well-made perfume oil can last a good working day. Our own oils are blended to wear for roughly 8–10 hours on most skin.
Where to apply it
Perfume oil comes alive with warmth, so the best places to wear it are your pulse points — where blood flows close to the surface and gently heats the fragrance through the day:
- Inner wrists
- The sides and base of the neck
- Behind the ears
- The inner elbows
A dab at two or three of these is plenty. You do not need to cover every one.
How much to use
With oils, less is genuinely more. Start with a single dab, let it settle, and build up only if you want more. Because the scent sits close to the skin, you are not aiming to fill a room — you are creating a soft, personal trail that people notice when they are near you.
Small tricks that make a big difference
- Moisturise first. Fragrance clings far better to hydrated skin. A little unscented moisturiser on your pulse points before applying helps the oil last noticeably longer.
- Don't rub your wrists together. It feels natural, but it bruises the delicate top notes and can shorten the wear. Dab and let it dry on its own.
- Wear it on skin, not just clothes. Skin warmth is what develops an oil beautifully. Fabric holds scent too, but skin brings it to life.
- Reapply lightly if needed. A quick touch-up at your wrists in the afternoon keeps a fresh scent going into the evening.
Finding your scent
Technique matters, but so does choosing an oil you love. Our best-sellers each wear a little differently: Blue Mystral is fresh and aquatic with a cool floral-ocean character; Golden Rose is a warm, woody oud with a rosy heart; and Damask Musk is a floral, spicy, sensual musk. If you are not sure where to begin, the Discovery Set lets you try the range on your own skin first.
Our customers on Trustpilot often mention how long the scents last — proof that a good oil, applied well, really does go the distance. And because our oils are alcohol-free and cruelty-free, they are a gentle choice for everyday wear.
